There have been a lot of publicity and discussions about the faster than light neutrinos. The latest “Faster-than-light neutrino result queried” is from BBC. To quote the article:

“Prof Glashow and his co-author Andrew Cohen argued that particles moving faster than light should emit further particles as they travel – in the process losing energy until they slow down to light-speed.“

There is a simpler reason why these neutrinos cannot be travelling faster than light – Lorentz-Fitzgerald transformation. That anything traveling faster than light must convert into exotic matter. The squareroot of [1-(v^2/c^2)] when v > c become squareroot of -1, or mass becomes exotic.

If that happens than one would not recognize the collisions as mass-based neutrino collosions, these collisions would be unrecognizable, probably claimed as a new particle.

Therefore, in I my opinion, these neutrinos did not travel faster than light, but I cannot comment why the 60 nanosecond early timing. One of the physicist I spoke with had suggested that these experiments are so sophisticated that it is difficult to infer what happened without access to the original experimental data, by someone thoroughly familiar with the experimental method used.

Ben

Press Release
For immediate release

12-year investigation leads to new formula for gravity

Denver, CO (07/21/2011), iSETI LLC announced today that it’s 12-year investigation into alternative gravitational models has been completed with the publication of the final paper “Gravitational acceleration without mass and noninertia fields” published by the AIP journal, Physics Essays, for their September 2011 issue. It is available online as of June 23 2011 at the following link,

http://physicsessays.org/resource/1/phesem/v24/i3/p327_s1?isAuthorized=no

This paper shows that mass is not required to alter gravitational fields, because g=τc^2, where g is gravitational acceleration, tau, τ, is the change in time dilation divided by the change in distance. This new force field equation g=τc^2 has been shown to be correct for gravitational, electromagnetic & mechanical forces. This unification of gravitational, electromagnetic & mechanical forces was made possible by the discovery of Non Inertia, Ni, fields, a common property of these 3 forces. This proves the theoretical feasibility of developing gravity modification technologies without the use of mass.

iSETI defines gravity modification as the modification of the strength and/or the direction of the gravitational effect without the use of mass. Gravity modification consists of two parts, field modulation and field vectoring. Field modulation is the ability to attenuate or amplify a force field. Field vectoring is the ability to change the direction of the force field. With g=τc^2, we now have a theoretical basis for doing both.

iSETI LLC expects that these findings will lead to the development of new space propulsion technologies & new ventures, that could takes us to Mars in 3 days or less, and to the outer planets. The massless g=τc^2 force field equation now opens up the real possibility of engineering a version of the Alcubierre warp drive as spacetime can now be deformed/warped without the use of mass. These findings come at a propitious time as the close of NASA’s Shuttle program raises the urgency for the need to get back into space.

Benjamin Solomon is the founder of the private research firm, iSETI LLC. iSETI stands for Interstellar Space Exploration Technology Initiative. This research is premised on the observation that if the brightest minds working with relativity, quantum & string theories could not solve the gravity modification problem, then iSETI would explore alternative models. Further information & published research can be found at the company’s website http://www.iSETI.us/ or contact Ben Solomon by email benjamin.t.solomon@iseti.us or phone (970) 306-7656. Note, that iSETI LLC is not in any way related to the SETI Institute, nor is this work in anyway to be associated with DARPA’s 100 year Starship Study.

All,

We are glad to announce that SPESIF-2011 is to be held March 15-17, 2011 at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD – near Washington, DC. SPESIF is in its third year and is co-sponsored by AIAA and AAS.

SPESIF is a rebirth of the Space Technology Application and International Forum (STAIF). STAIF ended primarily to the demise of technology development within NASA at the onset of the Constellation program in 2008.

With the technology changes coming to NASA, we invite all to help us rebuild the great forum STAIF once was.

The call for papers and presentations can be found at
http://www.ias-spes.org/SPESIF2011/CallforPapers/2011callforpapers.pdf

Please submit your abstracts by 15 August to help us plan a better forum for all.

We proposed all to use SPESIF as a first step in getting your proposed technologies seen by others toward future presentation to the new NASA technology programs. Even if to resurface previous technologies lost to past organization changes.

Attached you will find the NASA grand challenge reporting that SPESIF currently supports.

The SPESIF staff appreciates your patronage toward this forum and hopes to see you there,

With Regards,

Glen A. Robertson
Technical & Organizing Chair

Gravity Modification Today

Evergreen, CO (July/12/2010) – iSETI LLC (Interstellar Space Exploration Technology Initiative) a private research company, is presenting the 3-hour seminar “Gravity Modification Today”, on Saturday August 21, 2010.

This seminar is based on more than 10 years of privately funded research into the physics & the engineering of how gravity can be modified.

Contemporary physics tells us two things. First, that it will be several hundred years before gravity modification is possible. Second, that interstellar travel is only possible if one can surf a black hole’s gravitation wake and only if this black hole is travelling near the speed of light.

iSETI LLC, not in any way related to the SETI Institute, was founded by Solomon in 2005 to research new space exploration propulsion technologies that would defy this conventional wisdom and expects gravity modification to become a reality in the coming decade.

The purpose of this seminar is to disseminate iSETI’s latest research discoveries into the physics of gravity modification to raise the awareness of how these discoveries will alter future research and technology development programs. The topics include, the formula for gravitational acceleration without mass g=t c2, gravitational, electromagnetic & mechanical non-inertia Ni fields, the scientific approach, the experimental evidence, reverse engineering of Laithwaite’s & Podkletnov’s experiments, and new models for photon probabilistic behavior.

Attendees will take away the knowledge that gravity modification as a scientific phenomenon is theoretically and experimentally feasible today.

There are pros and cons to all sides but the bottom line is if we don’t fund radical or unproven ideas today, we won’t have future technologies tomorrow. A 100 years ago relativity was considered radical if not heresy. I’m sure you agree that the only way we are going to find out what works and what does not is through experimental verification. The emphasis should be on what works or not, and not radical or mainstream.

Funding is required for all three stages, (1) theoretical exploration, (2) technological feasibility, & (3) commercial viability. Without all three steps there is no future space exploration technology that will be different from what we have today. The Army/von Braun and later NASA addressed the first 2 steps. Now private space companies are attempting to address the 3rd step, commercial viability.

From my own private experiments I was working backwards, from experimental data to theoretical explanations. Keeping things brief, I proposed a different approach to gravity (not based on mainstream relativity, quantum theory or string theory). But a rather straight forward one, that gravity deforms the space and therefore the shape of an elementary particle. This deformation results in acceleration. The theoretical formulations do not lend themselves to an analytical solution, and I had to use numerical integration to solve the formulation. (http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2009AIPC.1103..317S)

I have shown that gravitational acceleration can be defined without mass by an elegantly simple formula g = τc2, where τ is the change in time dilation divided by the change in distance. No mass required. Not accelerating body’s mass. Not gravitational mass. And have shown that this formula works for mechanical and electromagnetic forces.

Note, one has to use an Excel Add-In like Xnumbers to enable computations to 250 significant digits to test and very this formula. For example Excel handles only 15 significant digits, and typing in c2 or 299,792,4582 does not give the correct value in Excel.

There are two inferences from my hypothesis. (1) That gravity modifying technologies that do not require mass are possible, and (2) quite possibly that there is something more fundamental going on that shows up as conservation of mass-energy and conservation of momentum.

In a subsequent paper (http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2010AIPC.1208..261S), again using numerical methods, I had shown that a photon’s (and therefore any particle’s?) probability distribution is not Gaussian. It is a form of a Gamma distribution, for the want of a better term I call a modified Gamma distribution. This says that just maybe, one may be able to develop a Gamma (not a Gaussian) version of a quantum theory, if the funding is available.

The numerical modeling suggests that the photon’s modified Gamma distribution is huge (and possibly field-like), and given the deformation hypothesis I had proposed, it just may be that a relativistic type field theory may be more amenable to future propulsion technology rather than one based on quantum theory.

In conclusion I think we should make available a much bigger budget for non-mainstream physics and engineering if we expect to see new propulsion technologies any time soon.

My day job is in the financial services industry specializing in supporting the Mortgage Backed Securities industry, through my company QuantumRisk LLC. Lets face it. The CMBS industry is only expected to be $10-15 billion this year, compared to about $250 billion at its peak in 2007. A lot of good people have left their firms or even the industry, for example in my outreach I found that the senior CMBS staff at Credit Suisse are no longer there, and many other firms don’t expect to get back into this industry for quite a while.

So how do we make profits? We have to look at other sources. One new emerging source is the radical technologies of the future. Well, they will only be future technologies if we work on them today.

One is probably correct to say that these are very high risk ventures, but wait a minute, didn’t we lose 50% of our principal in RMBS and CMBS? Thankfully that puts a new perspective on the risk of ‘radical’ technologies, doesn’t it?

In this post we explore some of the radical physics and technologies that I have been personally involved in. Yes, some of you (especially those of you who have worked with me at Capmark & at Goff Capital) know that I have been working on gravity modification technologies and later photon technologies these past 11 years.

I have published or presented 12 papers on this subject and given 4 radio / Internet interviews. See iSETI LLC; and am particularly proud of 2 papers that are now available as American Institute of Physics (AIP) Conference Proceedings. These 2 papers have be archived at The Smithsonian / NASA Astrophysics Data System:

In April 2009 I was honored to accept the position of Session Co-Chair of the A.03.1 Theories, Models and Concepts, Frontiers in Propulsion Science track at SPESIF, an AIP conference. The Session Chair is Dr. Martin Tajmar, Head of Space Propulsion & Advanced Concepts, Austrian Research Centers GmbH – ARC.

It is heartening to know that many, many scientist, engineers & technologist are working to improve our world and to reach for the stars. Well managed privately funded research will accelerate this and provide good returns for new investors.

Gravitational Acceleration Without Mass!
The formula on the right, g=tau.c^2, was published in my paper An Approach to Gravity Modification as a Propulsion Technology and derived using extensive numerical models (the same methods used in finance) and a new approach to gravity, that particles deform in a gravitational field. Briefly, gravitational acceleration is an indirect effect of mass, and therefore gravitational mass is not required to calculate the force. What is required to be known is the distortion present in spacetime at the location where the particle is, or tau or dt/dr the change in time dilation divided by the change in distance. Elegantly simple!

This formula has been numerically proven to be correct for gravitational forces, electromagnetic forces and mechanical forces i.e. unification of gravitational with electromagnetic forces that our current physical theories have not been able to reach. Lets think about this. This means that gravity modification as a propulsion mechanism is theoretically feasible!

Michio Kaku, the famous string theorist said (April 25 2008 The Space Show radio interview), that gravity modification is hundreds of years away. That is great news for small business research labs. Why? Because we cannot compete with the multi-billion dollar labs, and therefore, not being fully accepted (just yet) by the main stream physics community gives us breathing space to pursue our research to commercial success.

Therefore, we can expect new propulsion technologies, storage technologies – by slowing down time, new force field technologies, and much, much more.

Non-Gaussian Photons? What is That?
Quantum Theory is based on the premise that a particle’s probability distribution is a Gaussian distribution. The familiar Bell Curve or Normal distribution is the most famous member of this family of distributions.

In my paper Non-Gaussian Photon Probability Distribution, I showed that the photon’s probability distribution is not a Gaussian function but a modified Gamma distribution. As a consequence I was able to present shielding, cloaking and invisibility as different manifestations of this one and the same modified Gamma distribution. This also suggests new ways of looking at quantum entanglement. All this is done without taking into consideration the photon’s electromagnetic nature. This is a radical shift in photon modeling.

What does this mean? We can look forward to new materials technologies, such as cloth-like radiation shielding materials for space exploration, etc.

The Book

My book, An Introduction to Gravity Modification: A guide to using Laithwaite’s and Podkletnov’s experiments and the physics of forces for empirical results, (Universal Publishers, Boca Raton) published in 2008, presents what the physics of forces would look like given gravity modification.

The book details the work of selected experiments & researchers, Laithwaite (British experiments in the 1970s), Hayasaka & Takeuchi (Japanese experiments in the 1980s), Podkletnov (Russian experiments in the 1990s), and Luo, Nie, Zhang, & Zhou (Chinese experiments in the early 2000s).

In the 1970s Prof. Laithwaite, Heavy Electrical Engineering, Imperial College, UK, showed that a rotating-spinning wheel would lose weight. His work was largely ignored because no one could mathematically explain why. I solved this and the equation is presented in the book. This could only be solved by assuming that Non-Inertia, Ni, fields exists.

It is important to note that in the 1990s Podkletnov was the first to bring to our attention the possibility that a spinning superconducting disc could have gravity modifying effects. However, his published papers are scant on technology details. The book provides a reverse engineering of why Podkletnov observed gravity shielding effects, using my findings that gravitational acceleration is an indirect effect of mass.

If you chose to purchase this book, please bear in mind that there are some typo errors and it needs some revisions to include Non-Gaussian photon probability distributions. I expect to revise the book by December 2010, if I do get the time, else it will be next year.

The book is available directly from Universal Publishers or on Amazon (read the reviews).

Funding Summary
The Wall St. crash of 2008, the mortgage crisis, and severe asset deflation, tells us that the perception of risk rather than actual risks usually determines our investment decisions.

From my own personal experience with the grants process at the National Science Foundation I infer that it is difficult to get funding for any project that is not directly related to Relativity, Quantum Theory or String Theory. This is not surprising given that it is tax payer supported and there is a need to prioritize and be accountable for the disbursements. Therefore radical technologies will require private investors.

To get an idea of the size of the investment opportunities in the US, the 2010 NSF budget is $6 trillion (12 zeroes), and the size of the 2008 DoD SBIRs was $1.2 billion, other SBIRs/STTRs are estimated to around $2 billion. Therefore, innovation funding in the US is approximately $6.5 trillion not including internal corporate funding. Compare this to 2007 CMBS of $250 billion and gross U.S. issuance of agency & non-agency MBS of about $2 trillion. This reflects a huge opportunity in innovation research funding if we know how to tap it.

But wait, this now famous photograph shows 11 of Microsoft’s early pioneers. Who would have guessed…

If one is willing to invest patient money into radical high-risk technologies of the future, there are a lot of opportunities. In my opinion radical technologies can have higher sustainable rewards.
