Recently, Robert Nemiroff, an astrophysicist at Michigan Technological University, showed that some if not all of the theoretical work behind quantum foam and quantum gravity may be invalidated. That is an immense finding!

I had grown up thinking that quantum foam was real. Now I find that it is a hypothesis only and yet to be proven to be a fact. Imagine that! How much of physics, are we are taught as real but is actually unproven mathematical hypotheses?

How did he do this? He detected 3 photons that had travelled 7 billion light years from a gamma-ray burst to arrive on Earth only very recently, about a millisecond apart in total or approximately 300 km apart at most.

What is the probability of this 3-photon journey happening? Almost zero, therefore this interest in his findings.

Could the 3 photons have been aligned near Earth due to some spacetime warp? No, natural gravitational fields are symmetrical. Therefore, any ‘disturbance’ introduced to a photon on the way into a gravitational field would be reversed on their way out of the gravitational field. They had to be aligned at journey beginning, 7 billion light years ago, otherwise they would have gone their different directions and Robert Nemiroff would not have recorded them together.

Could a lensing or focusing effect cause this? The experimental physicist Robert Nemiroff did not think so, neither did Giovanni Amelino-Camelia who proposed the experiment to prove quantum foam. But Amelino-Camelia had said the equivalent of ‘not so fast buddy’, because we need to repeat this observation to confirm conclusively that quantum foam and quantum gravity has been invalidated. I bet that has started a search for similar 3 photon arrivals in the recorded archives of our sky.

Is this finding real? Yes, his findings were published in Physical Review Letters, probably the most prestigious physics journal in the world, today.

What is the significance of 3 photons only 300km apart travelling 7 billion light years together? That nothing but quantum foam could have dispersed them, but there were not dispersed, and therefore, quantum foam does not exists.

It will set quantum mechanics back several decades. 30? 50? 70? If Robert Nemiroff findings point to severe fundamental problems than it could be closer to 70 years, if not may be 30 years.

Actually, the fact that quantum foam may not exists is a major fundamental breakthrough. The more I think about it the more I have to say ‘wow’. Some physicists have proposed that they can achieve 1,000+ the velocity of light with theoretical work based on quantum foam. Wow! It is gone! Robert Nemiroff just disproved them.

There are two reasons why I say the problems maybe more fundamental than physicists suspect. First, I showed that the photon probability is not Gaussian. It is a new probability distribution I discovered and named Var-Gamma. FYI there are only 32 known probability distributions. The last on was discovered in the 1970s by a Scandinavian team. Therefore, this is a big deal. And, especially because this Var-Gamma probability distribution enables the unification of resolution, transmission, shielding, invisibility into a single phenomenon, which quantum mechanics has not accomplished.

Second, this wave function is not consistent with Special Theory of Relativity because length must be zero. Therefore, the photon wave function is not the photon. Not even a description of the photon. This wave function is caused by the photon disturbing spacetime. So we detect the photon’s presence by detecting it signature wave function disturbance. Just as we observe a contrail and know that a fighter jet is present, yet we don’t mistake the contrail for the fighter jet. This signature disturbance is unique to the type of particle, and therefore, we easily mistake this signature wave function disturbance for the actual ‘particle’.

I developed a photon description that is consistent with Special Theory of Relativity, that anything travelling at the velocity of light must have zero thickness.

Because it is consistent, subspace must exist, and therefore, interstellar travel.
